Violation of Exposed Tik Tok

The offense committed by Tik Tok, a social networking site that creates and shares short videos, has now come to light. For nearly 15 months, Tik Tok has been accused of collecting personal details of its users in violation of Google’s rules. The Tik Tok processor is also said to have helped the Chinese government monitor the US government

Currently, the United States, the superpower following India, has also banned the Tic Tok processor. It is alleged that the Tik Tok processor collected the MAC address of its Android users. This is according to a study conducted by the Wall Street Journal in the United States. The MAC (Media Access Control) address allows you to display personalized ads to each user. A spokesman for Tik Tok said the data collection had been discontinued since the November 2019 update, and that the current version of the Tik Tok app did not collect users’ MAC addresses.

Apple introduced a security feature in 2013 to prevent third-party software companies from collecting the MAC address of personal information of iPhone users. Although Google introduced this feature in 2015, the Tik Tok processor has illegally collected the MAC address of its Android users using some holes in it. A study by the Wall Street Journal found that the Tik Tok processor collected the MAC addresses of Android users and some other personal information and sent it to ByteDance.

The study found that by 2018, more than 350 processors that could use the loophole in Google’s security feature to access the website in the Google Play Store would have collected their users’ information. With this MAC address everyone’s activities can be constantly monitored by advertisers and third party software companies. Analysts say Google has yet to fix the security flaw.

While India and the US have banned the Tik Tok processor for security reasons, companies including Microsoft are interested in purchasing the global functionality of the Tik Tok processor.
